How to make your swing faster?
I believe that the first term that most golfers know and has a direct impact on the distance of each club is the Club Speed .

First, let’s understand the basic of Club Speed ​​or the speed of the golf club head. TRACKMAN will capture the speed of the club head before hitting the ball (Impact) in miles per hour (MPH).
Club Speed ​​has a direct impact on the distance of the golf ball,
and those who have fast Club Speed ​​have a chance to hit the ball far. An increase in Club Speed ​​for every 1 MPH will create a possibility to hit the ball with a Driver up to 3 yards further.

Average Club Speed ​​of professional golfers

  • PGA Tour (Men)
  • Driver: 115 MPH → Carry average 282 yards
  • 6 iron: 94 MPH → Carry average 188 yards
  • LPGA Tour (Women)
  • Driver: 96 MPH → Carry average 223 yards

The club that should be practiced to increase Club Speed ​​is the Driver because it is the club that all golfers want to hit the furthest.
For those who want to increase Club Speed, let’s first examine ourselves to see how much the maximum speed of the club head (Driver) is. How much do we want to increase?
Let’s say we swing the club head at a maximum speed of 90 MPH. We want to set a goal to increase the speed from the original to 95 MPH, which is 5 MPH more than the original. The chance to do it right away is difficult.
But when we can increase the maximum club speed from 90 MPH to 95 MPH, it will be easy to return to hitting the club speed at 90 MPH immediately.
Similarly, a person whose club speed used to be at a maximum of 110 MPH, if they can increase the club speed to 115, swinging at a speed of 110 MPH will not be difficult anymore.

*The key to training to increase club speed is
Practice swinging at the maximum speed without hitting the ball (swinging quickly into the wind) alternating with hitting the real ball to let the body get used to the movement of swinging the club fast.
No need to care about which way the ball goes or whether it hits well. The goal is to increase the club speed only because we want to unleash our own potential, understand the force, and discover techniques to swing the club faster.

From my experience with students or golfers who have high club speed and can hit the ball far, they will have the following characteristics:

  • Strong and flexible muscles. Each joint has good mobility (Joint Mobility)
  • The order of force exerted during the Downswing is well-ordered, starting from the hips, chest, arms, and finally the hands.
  • Use appropriate equipment, such as a golf club shaft that is not too hard or heavy.
  • Hitting the ball not that hard but has a high distance and Club Speed ​​👍

People with low Club Speed ​​will have the following characteristics:

  • Exerting force incorrectly, such as Early Release, loosening the wrist, and exerting force too quickly.
  • Feeling like exerting a lot of force but not hitting far, Club Speed ​​does not increase.
